Ribbon: Blue. A miniature cross is borne on the ribbon when ribbons only are worn.

Instituted: 24 September 1940 by King George VI.
Discontinued: 1999, and replaced by the New Zealand Cross.

Awarded: For outstanding acts of courage in dangerous conditions.
