Instituted: 7 March 1889, replacing the Medal for Courage and Loyalty.

Awarded: To natives of the Netherlands East Indies that showed exceptional bravery and fidelity. It is no longer awarded, the last award being in 1927.

Grades: 2 (Silver and Bronze) with Arabic or Javanese inscription.
