Ribbon: Pale blue with pale yellow central stripe.

Instituted: 1888 (as order of the independent state of Congo, part of Belgian system from 1908). Discontinued: 1960 on Congo becoming independent.

Grades: 5 classes and 3 medals.

Awarded: for services to the Congo and towards the furtherance of African civilisation.
